RE: RV flag poles

That was going to be my next question for the ladder mount folks, How far up the ladder do you attach the mount? Don't know how hard it would be to climb to the top of the ladder with a fully extended 16 or 22 ft flag pole (fully extended)with the flag on to put it in the mount.

RV flag poles

Hope this is the right place for this post. As I've mentioned before, one of the reasons we purchased a motorhome was to tavel to South Eastern Conference college football games. While in Nashville last weekend, we saw a couple of hitch mounted flag poles with team banners/flags flying well above the motorhomes aw well as ladder mounted flags and poles. I'm looking for pros and cons on hitch mount vs ladder mount flag poles as well as who to buy from and about how much to spend.
Thanks,

No H2O in the Hot water Heater

Did I forget somrthing or do something wrong?- We just got back from a weekend trip in the motorhome. It's going to get down to around 30 degrees tonight here in N. Alabama.
I opened the 3 low point drains, opened the faucets and turned on the shower head. Took about 45 minutes to clean out the coach. When finished cleaning the inside, I slowly undid the drain plug on the hot water heater full expecting the water to come flowing down the side of the coach, but no water at all. I've done this in the past and had water come shooting out, one time soaking me. So my question is, where is the water that is supposed to be in the hot water heater? did I do something wrong?
Also, after there was no more water coming from the low point drains, I had my wife go inside the coach, still all the facets were open including the shower. Hooked my compressor to (via a blow out plug) to the city water. Set Compressor to 45 psi and turned the compressor on. I told my wife to let me know when H2O quit coming out of the fixtures. Again, no water at all, and again, what am I doing wrong
Thanks

1st time winterization

Living in North Alabama this is what I've done so far, keeping in mind that we'll be using the coach for the last time the weekend of Nov. 7th.
-opened all low point drains
-opened all faucets, including outside shower head
-removed drain plug from hot water heater
-removed drain connection for ice maker on outside back panel of fridge
turned on water pump momentarily, no water anywhere
-did a thourough dump of black and grey tanks, should I add H2O and chemicals, or leave empty?
-Used blow out plug, forced compressed air at 40 psi through city water connection. Again, we'll be using the rig on Nov. 7th , 8th , and 9th.
This all was done without RV antifreeze so when we go to head out in 2 weeks we won't have to perge freshwater system of antifreeze. This will be our last trip, when we return I'll repeat, but this time I will bypass the hot eater heater and use RV antifreeze.
Am I ready for 2 weekends of temps of 26 to 29 degrees at night, warming up to the 40's during the day.
Thanks again,
Mark

Another 1st time Winterization Question

I'm posititve this has been covered but couldn't find it so here goes. Our supposed last outing for the season in our 08 Allegro 35 QBA will be for a long weekend on NOV 6th at a campground w/ full sewer hook ups. I'll want to winterize the unit when we get back. so my question(s) are:
1)When departing the campground for the supposed final time of the season should I completely dump the black/gray tanks?(use black water flush and add hemicals) I've read on this board the black tank should never be completely empty.
2)What happens after the unit has been winterized and we decide to take a last minute "spur of the moment trip" and obviously need to use the onboard water related components(sink, shower ,toilet)?

RE: Vanderbilt Football Camping

We dry-camped last weekend at the visitors RV set up the University of Arkansas and it was great, we were told by some other RV'n Gator fans that Arkansas had one of the best RV arrangements for visiting teams in the SEC. We were hoping that Vandy had something similiar, guess not so we'll go to plan B which is a campground nearby the stadium, preferbly with full hookups.

Sounds intersting, thanks for the suggestion, I'll discuss with the boss and see how she feels about keeping the ST Augustine part of the trip in tact, then on to Daytona

Bummer!

We have the week of October 6th off from school. We had a trip planned and campgrounds reserved in Fl(St Augustine area as well as Titusville) for the Shuttle Launch. Now that the launch has been rescheduled, we're now looking for suggestions that would be both fun and educational for the week, we'll be traveling with a 8 and 6yr old in a 36' motorhome. We live in north Alabama. The FL trip would have been around 900 miles. Given that we only have the week off from school, the 900 miles or so is probably going to max out the time and budget.
Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated

RE: South GA N. FL campground suggestions

Two parks with the same name, boy that is confusing and could definately ruin our trip. Thanks so far for all the suggestions, but after looking at the trip, I don't think we'll be able to make it so far south in one afternoon. Especially since we're trying to avoid Atlanta all together. So maybe some suggestions for an overnight at a campground around Tifton GA would be better. Or should I start up a new post?
Thanks again and keep em coming, we've learned so much fron this forum already, and we haven't left the driveway yet>
Thanks again
